Infusion
Therapy
Infusion therapy involves medicines and fluids given through
a catheter into your bloodstream. Therapies commonly used
include antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs, pain medicines,
and nutrients. In our case, we use infusion therapy for
the treatment of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Crohn's disease is an inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal
(GI) tract. People with Crohn's may experience a number
of symptoms, including diarrhea, abdominal cramps and pain,
fever, rectal bleeding, loss of appetite, and weight loss.
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic disease of the colon,
or large intestine. People with ulcerative colitis can
experience a number of symptoms, including severe abdominal
cramping and pain, fatigue, and the sudden, uncontrollable
urge for bowel movements. With appropriate medical treatment,
many people with ulcerative colitis are able to achieve
real symptom control through infusion therapy.
